Energy & Utilities

Teed consultants have worked with dozens of oil and gas operators, power companies, water suppliers and other companies operating within the energy & utilities supply chain, helping them develop business continuity strategies and plans to keep operations running.

Teed has worked on behalf of the majority of North Sea oil and gas operating companies, helping them with their own business continuity planning, as well as facilitating and participating in UK industry initiatives to ensure a joined up approach to issues such as pandemic planning. We have also worked with operators and key industry suppliers elsewhere in Europe, North America and the Middle East.

The primary objectives of our clients in the energy and utilities sector are typically to ensure that, in the event of an unexpected incident, they are able to maintain safety and environmental standards, safeguard the continuity of operations and also protect their organisation’s reputation. We will help identify events that could threaten these objectives and develop risk controls and recovery strategies that would ensure that the risk exposure is reduced to acceptable levels.

We have proven that the business continuity management discipline can be integrated effectively with an energy company's risk management and insurance focus to ensure a joined up approach to managing, controlling and transferring risks. BCM is not just for considering the loss of ICT or offices, it should be extended to include a focus upon people criticality, supply chain dependencies and other single points of failure that could jeopardize operations.

Our energy clients appreciate that we have more experience of assisting similar organisations with their business continuity planning than any other consultancy firm, which ensures that the experiences and practical methods that we bring to the table provides them with confidence in the solutions that are developed.

Teed Business Continuity soon became recognised as a specialist business continuity service provider for the offshore oil and gas industry. Regular client referrals resulted in Teed working on behalf of the majority of the UK North Sea oil and gas operating companies. In 2008 and 2009, Teed assisted Oil & Gas UK with the pandemic planning for the whole industry, helping to ensure that the continuity of oil & gas supply to the UK was safeguarded.

We have produced information and guidance to explain how BCM is used to manage significant risks in the oil and gas industry together with a quick survey asking "Are you prepared?" and the Teed approach to helping organisations in the energy sector with their business continuity planning.
