Education

Teed started providing help and advice to Universities on their business continuity planning in 2001 and this has continued to be an area of interest ever since. We have now worked with many of the leading UK Universities and have a very good understanding of the issues facing higher education institutions.

We approach projects for education organizations somewhat differently to those that we undergo for our larger corporate clients. We recognize that the available budget for obtaining external assistance and implementing solutions will be limited. We have designed tailored methods that suit the educational environment and our efforts are focused on providing input that will allow the majority of the work to be rolled out using internal resources.

We often undertake business impact analysis interviews for select corporate, support and academic areas and then provide the methods and training that will allow all other areas within the education institution to be taken through the same process.

We have worked with many University Estates and IT departments in helping them to design cost effective recovery strategies to ensure that minimum resource requirements can always be satisfied. We help to ensure that lessons learned by other similar organizations are taken advantage of and solutions are appropriate and inexpensive. With innovative thinking it is often possible to avoid using expensive third party services and makes best use of the campus facilities available. This process is helped by ensuring that workarounds have been established by academic, support and corporate departments that would buy some more time and allow a flexible solution to be adopted.

The threats to business continuity faced by educational institutions are wide and varied. Clients have asked us for advice and assistance on many of these including pandemic planning, loss of premises, loss of IT or communications, loss of information, threats to international travel, student demonstration and security issues.
