Audit & Assurance

For a business continuity management system (BCMS) to be successful, it needs to be continually monitored, evaluated and reviewed over time in order to ensure it remains effective.

Teed can perform an independent BCM Assurance Review of an organisation’s ability and preparedness to respond to and recover from a crisis situation. This goes beyond simply checking for the existence of appropriate documentation, procedures and processes which is a potential failing in the standard audit process. Rather, through use of an experienced BCM practitioner, the Review aims to answer the fundamental question – is the BCMS actually fit for purpose?

In essence, the BCM practitioner needs to probe beyond the documentation, procedures and processes to determine whether or not the BCM capability actually reflects business need and is aligned with best practice.

Teed’s experienced BSI trained lead auditor for BS 25999 will undertake the BCM Assurance Review through interviews with key business, facilities and IT representatives and a high level documentation review to gain an understanding of the following:

  • Type of organisation and services provided
  • Organisational structure
  • Physical infrastructure
  • IT & network infrastructure and equipment
  • Current risks, exposures and attitude to risk
  • Business continuity planning objectives, scope and drivers
  • Current preparedness to respond to and recover from a crisis

The outcome of the BCM Assurance Review is a concise Assurance Report, highlighting any areas of concern and recommendations to address these concerns.
